Best Ramen Joint
Took my Mom to Orenchi Ramen in Santa Clara, CA since she’s never been to my favorite ramen joint and never understood all the hype. Before the restaurant opens at 1130am for lunch, a line begins to form around 11am. Groups of people sign in their names on the clipboard that is made available before the place opens and wait patiently for their names to be called. Luckily, we got there early enough to be 6th in line which is quite a feat. Coffee and donuts in hand, we chatted and killed time until our name was called.
Not pictured is the karaage (fried) chicken that was ordered as an appetizer. Not as good as the first time I tried it at Orenchi but still tasty. I ordered the original Orenchi Ramen which includes a tender slice of braised pork, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, seaweed and mushrooms. Oh man, this bowl of ramen definitely hit the spot and it consistently does. The menu is simple but the recipes have been perfected so, the friendly and fast service that is included just puts a cherry on top of a gloriously delicious sundae. Great lunch with great company…my Mom didn’t critique it too badly so, that’s a win in my book!

Reading this made me really craving for ramen, and I just ate!
We should get ramen during our next outing!
Yummy! Have you ever been to Katanaya in the theater district? It’s my favorite place for Ramen and I’m not even a big ramen fan.
On Geary? If that’s the one, I just bookmarked it. Thanks for the rec! Now that I can eat meat, I’m looking forward to trying more ramen joints.
Yup, that’s the one!
I love their fried chicken ramen with salt base broth.
